About the publication

This PULP guide contains a selection of academic law titles that are currently found in the accredited journal lists from the Department of
Higher Education, South Africa. Articles published in these titles will qualify for a subsidy from DHET. This is a guide only and is not meant to
be comprehensive. A subject index to all the journal titles in this booklet begins on page 103.
There are currently 6 lists from the DHET:

  • Web of Science (previously ISI)
  • IBSS
  • Scopus
  • Norwegian list
  • DHET’s own list
  • Scielo

We recommend that you double check any title against these 6 lists before publishing. You can find a combined list, where you may search all
6 lists at once, here: http://www.library.up.ac.za/journals/docs/integrated_list.pdf

Web of Science: Journal Impact factor refers to a calculation made for the top journals in that database. It represents the average
number of times articles from the journal published in the past two years have been cited. The higher the number the better. The top
performing journals internationally have Journal Impact Factors of about 4. Typically Journal Impact Factors for law journals are not very high.
